about

Guillaume Tiger aka Isothesis made his entry on Goldmin with "Stase", a fluttering 8 minutes deep-techno track magnified by an inconsequential progression allied with incredible stereoscopic details. On that track, Guillaume made a very peculiar use of a Berlioz sample, and it impressed us from the first listen. That being said, 4/4 stuff and dancefloor-oriented stuff is not exactly Guillaume's favorite domain. Though we were keen to hear more from this artist that we had recently met in Paris, whatever kind of electronic music he was focusing on. Soon enough, he sent us some extended and meticulous demos for a possible album project that could easily compare with the best dark ambient and experimental things out there, making it hard to say if they were made with field-recorded sounds going through dozens of effects or only with synthesizers. We knew Guillaume was more into the experimental and musique-concrète scene than into the clubs and dancefloors' one. It also seemed like this guy was not an amateur in terms of electronic music making, synthesis, modules and all, but we were far to expect such perfectly mastered and flowing music. So before a possible album, "Magnetic Transmissions" is an ideal introduction to his work. Six soundscapes around the generative, evolutionary and let's say almost "genetic" aspect of electronic music. Highly influenced by the works of artists like Robert Rich, Eliane Radigue, and Thomas Köner, Tiger seems to consider electronic music expression as a complete freedom land, full of possibilities, where sounds can be shaped like objects or scenes, rather than a limited expression form defined by pointless rules. There is freedom in these magnetic transmissions, and maybe they can be played from one point to another or be combined differently. Either way, Guillaume has shaped a very personal world and it is audible throughout each of these tracks.
