We're excited to welcome Gabriel Cyr aka Teleseen to Goldmin with the first of two EPs compiling some tracks from his 2015 LP “Strangers”, with remixes from several artists from the US, Brazil and France. Gabriel is based in Brooklyn, NY but has lived and worked in Brazil and various points in Africa, and his music draws influence from from these experiences, weaving threads from tropicalia, samba, and West African music, as well as the house, techno and sound system culture from his home town. 2nd part of Teleseen's Strangers remixes takes in a different direction with remixes from Portland Oregon's electronic polymath Strategy, Brazilian dub master Buguinha and NYC's Arch e Typ. First up Strategy takes “Tongues” into a dark dub direction, taking the insistent percussion of the original into half time territory and adding incisive chords upon deep sub bass. Recife, Brazil's Buguinha sends the Ethiopian horn lines and samba percussion of the uptempo banger, Emergent through the bowels of his studio, adding grit and delay and heightening the death defying dynamics of the original track. Lastly, “Hudson”, a jazzy, elegiac tribute to a deceased friend, is pulled into future funk territory by Harlem's Arch e Typ.
