about

Our favorite belgian duo Lemakuhlar aka Stijn Verheyden & Tobias Van Eeckhout are finally back on Goldmin Music with their new record "Zuna". You never know what to expect with these guys but a certain kind of magic, it could draw influences from dub techno, micro house, straight techno or whatever. There's always this quite recognizable Lemakuhlar brushstroke. No recipes nor plans here. There are just 2 passionates guys, humbly looking for new ideas to keep on bringing their music further, recording in one-take with all the thrilling imperfections and mistakes that it involves. Zuna is a track that the guys sent us long time ago and we had a crush on that one from very first listen and it's not hard to tell why. 8 minutes of 130 bpm ride through lush rhodes chords finding a path into a superfast continuously driven groove. It sounds as fresh and relevant now as it was back when we first heard it 2 years ago. As always, They make their music feel pretty easy and catchy despite a fascinating complexity due a lot of live-recorded modulations and effects. Anyway, after their "Far away" digital ep and their debut 12" "Lauper", we wanted to bring another real Lemakuhlar story-telling 12" to life. Something that could be listened from the beginning to the end as a whole story but also something to become a safe bet in any djs' bag out there. One Ley Sum is of the same stripe. A proper warm and continuously driven weapon smoothen by it's superb stabs and captivating atmosphere. As for 2nd tracks of each sides "Catnapper" and "Daily". It would be a huge mistake to consider them as simple dj tools. "Catnapper" takes you into a dreamlike world. It's actually a perfect sound definition of it's meaning. It slowly but surely mesmerizes you, keeping you half-asleep half-awake and you remember everything of your little lucid dream w..he..n y..ou..suddenly WAKE UP. Daily is as abstract as it gets, a smooth echoed seaside dubtechno fairytale.
